All new engine bay brake, clutch lines

Due to recent design changes, ALL of the brake lines in the engine bay had to be remade (again).

I first had to straighten some 3/16" brake line tube which is supplied in 6 metre rolls. My DIY vice-mounted brake line straightener that I made some time ago wasn't always the best for getting the brake line well straightened without needing quite a lot of manual minor tweaks and bends.

I found a 3D printed version (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4754659) of a commercially available hand-held straightener and printed it to see how well it performed for an all-plastic (except for the bearings & bolts) construction.

After only the first test it was considerably better in straightening the roll of bundy tube than my DIY version, and far quicker also. A total investment of $25 (bearings & bolts $21, plastic filament $4) made it a bargain.

The passenger side brake caliper line mount under the engine is far lower than ideal and exposes it to getting damaged from underneath.

I mocked up the brake line route with some wire and made a guard / skid plate that bolts to the tie-rod bracket, to mitigate any debris strike. The route ensures clearance for the tie rod to fit and move up/down.

The position of this lower brake hose mount needed an intermediate line from underneath the gearbox to a joiner in the engine bay, with a mount against the subframe to hold the brake line joiner.

At the end of this intermediate line, I used a standard joiner however I machined a small section in the centre of it and 3D printed a saddle clamp for it, where the clamp has semi-circle underneath. This acts as a retainer and keeps the joiner from moving laterally.

The clutch line I made some time ago was very close to fouling on the brake master cylinder reservoir so it was time that line was remade.

I used my 3D printer to print some brake line clips for the 3/16" lines - it provides a nicer look rather than using P clips.

Now that I'm no longer using a brake booster, the brake line from the master cylinder to the front 3-way splitter Tee was remade (and Tee relocated from the previous location) and then the two lines from the splitter tee to the brake hose mounts made - a short line on the drivers side and longer one on the passenger side.

I also decided to remake the rear brake line (lower on on master cylinder) - so the bend radiuses matched :
