I have multiple accessories that I need to install/fit before I restart work on the wiring looms.
For the radio antenna, I decided to fit an automatic powered antenna (extends & retracts automatically when the stereo is on/off). There was already an antenna hole in the passengers side wing/wheel arch so I only had to make a bracket that mounts the power antenna housing. This was a simple bracket up in the wheel arch - using a couple of rivnuts I installed in the body brace. I want to make a splash guard for the antenna motor but I'll wait until the engine is next out and I can put the shell back on the rotisserie, and flip the shell upside down.
The aerial extended length is apparently 99cm
To make it a bit safer for a car that's so small & low, I purchased a Narva high mount LED brake light. This light comes with a plastic surround/enclosure which is designed to stick to the rear windscreen with the supplied adhesive tape. I didn't like how bulky the enclosure was, nor did I like the idea of having something stuck to the window with adhesive (the rear window will be tinted).
I removed the LED light from the plastic piece and decided to make a custom mount by hand bending and welding some 1mm steel sheet together, with the light held in place by nuts on either end - these nuts are part of the light.
To mount the light, I machined some stand-offs on the lathe and welded them to the light housing.
The piece is bolted to the rear parcel shelf (the standoffs are tapped with M5 threads)
This photo has a piece of timber placed on the rear parcel shelf to indicate the height of the window rubber seal - so the light sits approx 10mm above the seal.
While working at the rear of the car I fitted some rivnuts for the license plate in the boot lid, mounted a new licence plate lamp and drilled a hole for a reverse camera. I also welded up all the factory holes in the boot lid that I don't need.
