Final engine bay parts

After reinstalling the engine and most ancillary parts, I had a couple of small fabrication items to complete before the engine bay was complete (with exception of wiring).

After I adjusted the intake piping (https://mearcat.blogspot.com/2017/10/intake-piping-adjustment.html), it meant that the take-offs for the blow off valve (Turbosmart Kompact plumb-back) had moved and the valve no longer fitted.

This was a simple task of cutting off the small port, welding a patch in the hole, then cut/weld a new steel tube in the correct position (the blow off valve in the photo below is the correct orientation - boost pressure venting into the base of the valve and exiting out the side of the valve)

The last thing to do was to fit the carbon canister. Approval for the engine conversion from the Department of Transport included a requirement to maintain all emissions equipment so the carbon canister had to be fitted. I found a spot above above the gearbox where I could squeeze in the carbon canister.

The mount for the canister was easy to make and consisted of a couple of bends on some V-shape steel

I welded this to the brake booster brace and the canister is very light so there shouldn't be a problem with it fatiguing the booster bracket. The canister is easily lifted off the mount for when I have to access the air filter box and clean the filter.

The fuel hoses were to cut to length - running up from the firewall area, sweeping around brake booster and up to the carbon canister/fuel rail.

The small diameter hose from the canister to the throttle body was also fitted.
