I plan to move house soon and I have been thinking about how I can make it easier move the Mini and heavier parts around. I can easily move the Mini shell with the rotisserie pieces attached, however I had nothing to move the engine without the need for the (also heavy) engine crane.
So I made a simple dolly from a small 800mm x 600mm pallet I scavanged from the local tip/recycling centre, some spare wood & screws. Four swivel castor wheels were screwed in underneath. I already had some "U" shaped pieces of wood (made from 70 x 35mm pine) that the engine rested on when it was sitting on the ground in my garage so I screwed those onto the pallet, then cut and screwed on some 45 degree braces. The diff housing sits directly onto the pallet and it's all very stable when getting wheeled around the garage and perfect for when I move house.
