Replacement Heat Shield

A long time ago, I threw out the factory heat shield that covers the exhaust manifold thinking I wouldn't need it because I had purchased an aftermarket tubular exhaust manifold but after planning out the route of all the engine bay piping, I thought it would be better to have a heat shield over the manifold. This is not really to stop heat convection heating up the intake piping, but really so it hides the fact that the manifold is an aftermarket one - I'm not quite sure whether the inspectors will approve of having one fitted (in regards to emissions).

The factory manifold has three bolt mounts on it but the aftermarket one only had a single hole, so I had to weld some upright rods with nuts to allow me to mount the sheet on it. With no factory shield to compare it to, I used a nominal clearance of ~10mm between the sheet and the manifold tubes.

I used some scrap 0.8mm sheet metal from an old cabinet to make the heat shield and stripped the powder coat off it. The indent on the left side is to clear the turbo outlet pipe. I'll probaby end up sand-blasting this and painting it black.
