I didn't have enough room in my paintbooth to paint the rear subframe AND all the other rear parts so I left the subframe until a week later (in which time a small amount of surface rust had already started to appear). Like the other parts, 2 thin coats of KBS Coatings RustSeal were brushed on and 2 coats of black enamel were sprayed on. And like last time, ANY RustSeal that gets on your skin does NOT come off until it wears off a few days later.
Even though the whole rear subrame had been thoroughly painted, I was still concerned about it because it has a few hollow areas where you simply can't get to with a paint brush or paint gun, which could be prone to rust in the future. The solution... a can of Valvoline Tectyl 506 which is a spray on rust preventative product which dries as a waxy film, preventing ingress of water. There are other similar wax based products on the market which do a similar job. I sprayed it liberally into and around areas which were hollow such as the front box section of the subframe, in the hollow behind where the cones mount against. Don't be afraid to spray in these sections until it starts running out of a few seams and holes. The aim is to coat as much of the surface of the inside as possible.
Note the runs out of the holes around the hollow section :

I am still waiting on some brake parts that I ordered until I can rebuild the rear brakes and get the pivot pin rebuild kits fitted to the radius arms.
