Last weekend I cleaned the entire floorpan of the underbody sealer, so the task this weekend was more laborious and messy work scraping off all the seam sealer in the engine bay, cabin & boot areas. Heat it up with the heat gun, scrape it off with a paint scraper and then clean up the remaining bits with rag & methylated spirits so the seam of the two panels is exposed and clean. The sandblaster has instructed me that I should remove as much of it as possible as it's hard (and therefore expensive due to the time it takes) for him to remove.
The shell is now ready to be dropped off to the sandblaster this Saturday. He advised that he does not blast the underside of the roof or bonnet as they are easy to buckle the panels so I have stripped the bonnet of paint with some paint stripper & wire wheel. The roof has been cleaned of all glue but have not bothered stripping it - it only has thin overspray layer of red paint on it anyway.
