Dept of Transport says YES!

In Australia, you technically need to get permission from the "governing bodies" before performing any modifications to a vehicle. Even though I know this conversion has been done before and registered in Australia I still had the send the formal application for modifications approval to the Dept of Transport to get a "Approval in Principle" granted. This basically gives me permission to proceed with all modifications stated in the application and that I have to adhere to various sections of the "Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Modifications" VSB14 which exists to ensure that modifications to a vehicles are performed in a safe and sound manner.

An engineer still has to sign it all off at the end of the build and assuming he passes it as well, then I'm off for a final in-person inspection by the Dept of Transport men at the pits and then to be registered.

I received the approval in the mail today. No big surprise but it's one more thing to be removed in the big to-do list.
