Pulling the driveshaft apart Pt 2

After another quick attempt and failure at getting the CV joints off the driveshafts last night, I ended taking them to a CV joint shop today (Allan's CV Joint, Osborne Park) and they knocked one CV off in 30 seconds (with a big metal mallet - so much for my use of a measly claw hammer) and had to get a grinder to the other one and cut the CV off. Out of interest, the guy said that about 1 out of every 3 CV joints they have to cut off the driveshaft. Their customer service was very good so I'll use them to get the CV boots, circlips etc off him when the time comes as they have Mini ones.
Below (top to bottom) is the Starlet passenger side driveshaft (~22mmØ), Starlet drivers side driveshaft (~25mmØ) driveshaft, Mini driveshaft (also ~25mmØ - but doubt it's made out the same grade of steel). I can only assume that the extra thickness of the longer driveshaft was to mitigate any torque steer issues.
