Pulling apart the driveshaft is easy ... and hard. To remove the tri-bearing (part of the inner CV joint), simply use a small screwdriver to lever the circlip out of the groove in the spline and the tri-bearing slides off with ease.

Getting the outer CV and driveshaft apart is not as easy. It is held in the outer CV by a circlip (which you can't get access to once the shaft is inserted into the CV) and in the theory the two come apart by giving the CV a frickin big smack with a rubber or plastic mallet, forcing the circlip to compress and release the shaft. In theory that is... I have had a good try tonight and gave up after too many attempts. I may end up taking to a workshop and use their press/puller to do it.
