Engine Out, Frame Gone

Nothing too exciting really in terms of progress. I pulled out the steering rack and removed all the miscellaneous nuts, bolts, grommets & clips for whatever I may need during the future build.

I used a grinder to cut off the two front bars on the frame and pulled the engine out via the front which I probably should have done the other day! To get the gear shifter cables out of the front cut, the cables need to be removed from their mounting brackets (one bracket on either end) and feed the cable through the small hole in the firewall. Removing the mounts looked like a job that I was not in the mood for, so I just cut a big hole in the firewall with the grinder and pulled the whole thing through. I'll deal with the cables later...

The bare frame was loaded on into the back of my ute and taken to our local tip which recycle metal waste. Only cost me $12 to dispose of it (for ~90kg). Bargain!

With the engine now on the garage floor by itself, it looks so tiny! Excluding engine mounts & ancilleries (eg, alternator, which has been removed), it measures 815mm wide from LHS outer pulley to end of the gearbox (non LSD); and 530mm from rear of gearbox & front of turbo.
