The hoodlining of the white Mini has now been removed and the hoops and plastic mounting plugs are in good condition so I can reuse those. The hoodlining vinyl is very old, water stained and brittle so the hoodlining will be wrapped up (with hoops in-situ) and stored until the red Mini is ready to have the upholstery and trimming done so it can be remade using this original as a template.

To remove the front subframe, place a piece of wood under the frame to support it while unbolting (just like what was done with the rear subframe) and undo the two bolts at the front, the nuts/bolts through the top of the suspension towers (circled in pic below) and the four bolts through the floor pan underneath (arrows in the pic below). Then lower the jack and you're done!

Front subframe with everything (suspension, pivot arms, trumpets & cones etc) removed. Once I give it a good degreasing an clean-up, I'll weld up a jig for it - ready for when it gets modified to suit the Starlet engine. This subframe will be a guinea pig for a different subframe design than the type seen mutiple times on www.ausmini.com forums. If the design doesn't work out, then I'll use the subframe from the red Mini and toss this one.
